Innistrad Planeswalker's Guide

~
Happy Wednesday MTG peeps,

We are just now freshly returned from our trip to New York City. We wanted to add an element of Magic the Gathering to our trip there and drop by Jim Hanley's Universe and / or the Compleat Strategist but simply did not have time to fit it into our schedule. Instead we hit all the normal tourist points like the Empires State Building, Times Square, Staten Island Ferry, etc. Speaking of Times Square, here's CopySix with two new buddies who unsurprisingly smelled like booze, body odour and had english as a second language.

Anywhoos - we digress - we're back just in time to hop on the newest Magic the Gathering spoilers / previews / news and deliver it hot 'n' fresh for you. We have some catching up to do but wanted to start with today's big news on the mothership. Here is today's installment of 'Savor the Flavor' showcasing an introduction to 'A Planeswalker's Guide to Innistrad'.

Creatures we can expect in this set are Werewolves, Vampires, Zombies, Demons (Griselbrand and his ilk), Devils, Humans (think mobs or 'commoners' with torches / pitchforks), human soldiers, Cathars (specialised human holy warriors),

Here is some very lovely art by Ryan Yee, depicting a Zombie flash mob perhaps just outside a Church of Avacyn.

To the left we see what is perhaps an
Avacyn priestess (Art by Greg Staples) and to the right we have already seen Mikaeus, the ruling Lunarch (Art by Steven Belledin).

Apparently, thre are four provinces in Innistrad -

Gavony - home to the mega-city Thraben and the Cathedral of Avacyn.

Kessig - a vast forested region dotted by small hamlets where mankind eek out a living forming and hunting.

Nephalia - a coastal region with a number of harbour towns, each usually situated near a river's mouth.

Stensia - a mountainous area where vampires hold sway over small isolated human villages.

This set, from what we've seen today from the Planeswalker Guide promises to deliver a truckload of flavour and frankly we can hardly wait to sink our fangs into it. Please stay tuned to MTG Realm as we catch up from our week's absence.

Last images - to the left - a Cathars holy warrior at prayer in an Avacyn church (Art by Slawomir Maniak) and to the right a dark Skirsdag priest (Art by Clint Cearley).

And now a word about jumping on this upcoming set - we're suggesting getting in your pre-orders ahead of the official release on September 30th next month. Check out the excellent prices at MTG Mint Card here.
