Rise Eldrazi Spoiler 1-01

~
Happy March 32nd folks and welcome to the special April Fool's post on MTG Realm. Well not special at all really - other than I do have word back from the Canadian Mathematical Society (CMS) that they have approved my request and will officially change the value of Pi. In other news, we have (groan, when will it stop ?!) more Rise of the Eldrazi spoilers to slide your way. Buckle-up muchachos and let's ride.

~

Near-Death Experience, 2
Enchantment, Rare
At the beginning of your upkeep, if you have exactly 1 life, you win the game.

This card is chocked full 'o' flavour but unfortunately very little else. Silly card is silly. Expect many silly deck builds with this, but do not expect this to take a trip on the pro-tour circuit. Here at MTG Realm however, we love our casual kitchen table builds and as such, if we have the misfortune to pull one of these out of a pack, we will of course start thinking about a build with pain lands like Arid Mesa, Marsh Flats, Misty Rainforest, Scalding Tarn, Verdant Catacombs, and Piranha Marsh. Oh - and don't forget about other '1-life-left' enablers like Onyx Goblet, or Jund Battlemage - we're sure there is a heck of a lot more out in extended / legacy land that would work as well.

Hellcarver Demon, 3
Creature - Demon, Mythic Rare
Flying
Whenever Hellcarver Demon deals combat damage to an opponent, sacrifice all other permanents you control and discard your hand. Exile the top six cards of your library. You may cast any number of nonland cards exiled in this way without paying their mana costs.
6/6

Well - let's just hope that those top six cards are all Fatty McFatster and have the type line of Eldrazi so you can slip those bombs into play paying less than your wally-mart price. Sound good but totally situational. At best, this is a solid black board sweeper. Most players will likely have a sniff and walk away using Summoning Trap instead.

Kargan Dragonlord,
Creature - Human Warrior, Mythic Rare
Level up {
}
[Level 4-7] Flying (4/4)
[Level 8+] Flying, trample
{
}: Kargan Dragonlord gets +1/+0 until end of turn. (8/8)
2/2

Is it just us or has the stable of level-up cards spoiled to date been just too expensive for rather underwhelming abilities for that cost. Don't get us wrong - we're certain there are a lot of fans out there who will be leveling the nuts outta these cards but dang - we're kind of an short-sighted, instant gratification kind of player. Dragonlord looks OK in a mono-red deck and folks who played a lot with Figure of Destiny will have an affinity for this dude. But dang - that could potentially be a lot of turns to ride out and hope not to get this guy wasted before he is prime.

That's all folks, have a Happy Easter and we'll see you next on Tuesday - unless something crazy on 'teh internetz' happens which warrants an immediate update to you.
